The 3 Mistakes Coaches Make When Starting Their Business and What to Do Instead.

How New Life Coaches Go From Zero to Their First Premium Clients in 90 days.

Here’s the truth…

Life coaches spend 10, 20, or even 30 thousand dollars on coaching programs they are not ready for when starting a business.

There are thousands of courses and programs for business, and the problem is that they don't spell out where you are starting out at to succeed with the program.

Let me give you an example: Say you've a new coach, and you're doing one-off sessions, and you can see that getting 10-15 new clients a month is not going to be easy.

So you want to get some coaching to help you.

You go online and find a coaching program or a course that's laid out for you, “the six steps to six figures, super easy, follow the steps, and you'll get there”.

You take the course, but it doesn't work for you, then you sign up for another program and try again, and it doesn't work again.

These are programs designed for somebody who already has clients and is getting results.

They're ready to scale to six figures.

So today, I'm going to share with you the the 3 big mistakes that stop coaches from getting their first high-ticket coaching clients so you can finally get their coaching business launched

I am going to show you the three problems and give you the three solutions which are the three steps.

I will give you a practical and workable plan with everything you need to get a get your first premium coaching clients and nothing you don't need.

So

What you don't need is

  • a fancy funnel
  • a membership site
  • complicated technology

What you do need:

  • a good foundation
  • a willingness to show up consistently
  • do a few actions every day until you build momentum.

So lets do this! How to quickly get your coaching business launched and get your first high ticket clients a month is our goal.

There are 3 big problems that stop coaches from getting there. I want to talk about the 3 things you need to over come and then the 3 steps become the solution to those problems.

Mistake #1: Coaches struggle to sell their coaching because they're hesitant to promise a result. It's a confidence problem.

They end up selling life coaching!

And well, people don't buy life coaching!

People buy a result.

Successful life coaches aren't selling life coaching.

Successful life coaches are selling a result.

They are selling something someone wants (a result or an outcome), or they are selling a solution for something someone doesn't want ( a problem or a pain)

This lack of confidence stops coaches in two ways.

First, if they're not confident that what they are selling can help people get a result, they won't market it.

After all, how can one sell something if they are not "sold" themselves? Sure, they can put in the effort, but they won't be as successful at selling it or getting a result if they don't believe in it.

Secondly, coaches think and sometimes unconsciously they will have to work too hard.

Sure, they might be confident that they can get people a result.

But they're not sure if it's also going to be good for them.

They think they might have to work crazy hard or won't be able to scale it, or it'll eat up their time.

If they feel it'll be a ton of work, they won't sell it with the confidence needed to succeed.

So the first mistake is. Life coaches are selling life coaching, aka they're afraid of promising a result.

Mistake # 2: Life Coaches aren't talking to enough potential clients, aka they don't have enough lead flow.

They don't have a lead generation and selling system. So it's hit or miss with marketing and selling.

Or they have a system but aren't consistent with it, or it isn't working.

Or they are doing plenty of marketing, blogging, video Facebook lives, webinars, starting a Facebook group, and writing a book simultaneously with little to no results.

Or they go looking for another strategy, thinking that the one they tried doesn't work.

Suppose you think about lead flow like trying to fill a bucket with a hose. Lead flow can be in one of four positions:

1. Rusted shut. There are no new leads in ages.

2. Kinked Some leads and a few clients are coming in, but there is no solid process to move people from cold to sold.

3. Leaky the hose has some holes in it.  Enough leads to sustain a business and maybe growing a little year after year, but nothing remarkable.

4. Flowing The hose turned on is and flowing. Enough leads to grow a business month after month after month consistently.

So think about these four levels of lead flow and think about where your business is now. Is it rusted shut, is it kinked, is it leaky, or is it flowing?

Here's the truth there are only one level you want to be. A flow of leads on to grow consistently.

Mistake #3: Life coaches dislike selling it makes them feel super awkward.

Let's face a hard truth. If you don't make offers, you won't get clients, you won't make any sales, you won't make any money, and you can't help anybody. If you can't make a dollar, you don't have a business.

I know it is hard to sell our genius; we feel super awkward. We don't want to feel sleazy or pushy.

I get it.

We all want to feel authentic and aligned. Incongruent feelings causes all kinds of havoc in new businesses, from lowering our prices, giving too much away, and not asking for the sale at the end of a strategy session.

So let's review.

We have discovered that Life coaches are selling life coaching, aka they're afraid of promising a result.

They don't have a lead generation and selling system. So it's hit or miss with marketing and selling.

Life coaches dislike selling because it makes them feel super awkward.

So which one of these problem do you struggle with in getting your coaching business launched. Are you not confident in your promise, in your lead flow or are you uncomfortable with selling?

Ok so lets get started on solving these 3 big problems now.

Step #1 How to become incredibly confident in promising results in your coaching program.

You have to be super-duper confident about your program.

In other words, you need to feel bulletproof about your stuff. You have to believe - in your bones, believe - that your product will deliver the outcomes your clients want.

So first, you must remove any fear around promising a result. Where you're either unsure if the program will work for your clients or worried that if it goes well, you'll get bogged down in fulfillment.

And you do this by making sure you're clear on your ideal clients. Even though you can coach anyone about anything, you'll get faster results by focusing on one client.

Second you need to own your promise in the market. You need to be crystal clear on where they currently are, where they want to go and what the path is to get them there. This way you can own the outcome when they get there and can measure the success of your system

The third step is to design and implement your POC program (proof of concept)... so you've got a clear path to client results — and can confidently market and sell it, knowing your clients will win, and you will love the light delivery model.

What's a POC?

A POC or Proof of Concept Program is the simplest, leanest product or service package you can deliver.

It's so simple that you can sell it almost without effort

No software.

No fancy stuff.

So, what should you offer as a POC?

My best suggestion is a 1 to 1 or small group coaching program.

Set the price between $2k and $5k and make it a 6 to 10-week program.

that means...

  • it's high-priced
  • no-frills
  • and easily scales

And because of its short, specific coaching component, it gives clients outstanding results.

The result

You'll be 100% confident in your ability to deliver real-world results for your clients without burning yourself out. This confidence boost will make marketing and sales a night and day difference for you.

Step #2: Create a Simple System to Get in front of your ideal clients every day.

As a coach, it seems like you've got two options to generate leads: Pay for expensive ads, or post organic content and hope you get there ... slowly. Luckily there's a better way, and we'll install it next...

So the second solution is to build a sustainable "Hot Leads Everyday" pipeline.

It has to be scalable and profitable.

And you need to be sure you will love the experience. One good suggestion is to aim for a system that can connect you with 50+ ideal clients every single day.

Different systems can help you get there. Most are a little bit complicated for my liking, which is why we have a simple process that finds your ideal clients and starts conversations with them. These new connections will be the start of your new client pool over the next 30-60 and 90 days.

This system is all about connecting with 50 ideal clients a day. Create content that captivates them to raise their hands. Then nurture them with follow-up content until they are ready to work with you, so your prospect pipeline is flowing all the time.

It only takes half an hour to set up, and it can get you 50 ideal prospects every single day with no tech or ad spend.

So let's say that a coach is confident enough and has a lead generation system to get people into strategy sessions; however, they hate selling.

Now we turn to our 3rd solution.

Step #3: Build an Easy Enrollment Process

As we discovered, most coaches don't like to sell it makes them feel icky and sleazy. It is awkward.

So what we want is an easy enrollment process.

We need to move them from your initial engagement into the enrollment process. Social selling or chat is the best way to move them from raising their hands into your enrollment process.

We'll have a conversation with people over chat, and we're going to work out whether they're a fit or not. We can't work with everyone, and we don't want to waste time on clients that aren't ideal, so we need to filter in the ones that are a fit and filter out the unqualified.

Think about this, the only thing worse than having no clients is having the wrong clients. So this process is critical to work out who's a fit or not. Please make sure we only invite perfect people to work with us.

So we're going to have a quick conversation on chat to find out if they are a match. We discover what problems they have and what they want instead in the chat. We ask them if they would like to jump on a call and talk.

The strategy session, or the Easy Enroll Call as I call it, is used to enroll 60-70% of these qualified calls into clients. However, it is best to have all the foundational pieces already gone over in place first.

So far, we have gotten clear on our niche and transformation, created our signature solution, and set our pricing. We created a high-value program that will get our clients results, make us a nice profit, and we love delivering it.

Then we connect with 50 ideal prospects every day, create content that gets them to raise their hands and begin to nurture them until they are ready to work with us.

What’s The Easy Enroll Call?

It's a call that uses a specific framework to close upwards of 70% of qualified prospects into clients.

And that's it! Let's recap.

You can quickly launch your coaching business and consistently enroll 3-5 clients a month by first addressing the problems that have to do with how to:

  • getting the right support
  • confidence in your promise
  • talk to more prospects
  • have a framework to enroll

The three solutions to solve these are easy and practical.

First, you need to boost your confidence for your program to full throttle. Design your POC and deliverables. Set the price to reflect the bulletproof confidence you now have for your stuff.

Second, build a simple lead flow system that's gets you in front of 50 ideal clients a day.

Third, build an easy sales process

That's it! NOW IT'S YOUR TURN

We've covered the four things you should not do and what you should do instead when starting a coaching business. In this article, and I've given you the 10,000-foot overview of what you should do. I suggest you now focus on getting clarity on your ideal clients, transformation, signature system and offer,
